Who is going to win the 2008 election for President?
I think it could be either one. The media has fallen in love with Obama but I am not sure that the people believe he is the real deal. I am also not thrilled with either of the choices.

I expect that Barrack Obama will win this election, only because, it seems that some republicans feel let down by our current administration, and feel that McCain is representing the same causes as George W did. An example of this shift is my Papa in Illinois who has been Republican his whole life, midwest farmer conservative middle-class citizen that he is. He is so dissapointed in where George took us that he is voting for Obama purely because this country needs something to change drastically, and he doesn’t feel McCain will change enough.

Ben nailed it – GWB has made an impression on the American people that won’t soon fade. McCain has done some work to distance himself from some of the more ridiculous episodes, but continues to ‘hold the line’ on many points.
With all of the unrest in the world today people get a little concerned – with Obama we wonder if he’ll be able to handle it if anything goes down, with McCain we just have to wonder who he’s gonna drop bombs on first.

I just have to say that as a blue collar white man from Detroit MI, I’ve seen some crap in terms of racism in my time growing up. I remember moving out of the city and out into the suburbs in middle school, going from a minority in school to a majority overnight. I was also raised a Jehovah’s Witness for allot of my upbringing and went to a mostly all Black congregation on the west side of the city. I’ve grown up with Black people around me and don’t ever remember thinking as a child “I’m differen’t than my friend Sulaiman”. He was my friend and thats all that mattered. It seems most people like Obama well enough but have questions as to where you can really do the ‘job’ he keep talking about, but worry that McCain will just continue the ‘non-sense’ that has been taken in the past few years and/or make the situation worse.

Sarah Palin for PRESIDENT!!! Not only did she win the debate hands down but she showed the nation that she is in touch with us and with our economic issues. She was clear, concise, and shared McCain’s political ideas in a remarkable way.

Ok first off in recent polls it has been shown that 98% of black people vote for their own race, and which most of these happen to be democrats. They think everything is about them and when really its not. The want everything spoon fed to them on a platter and punish the people that have made alot of money from their hard word and determination to make something of themselves. The democrats and the blacks want to take this money away from the people who really earned it and make their own personal gain. These companies that have made the big bucks made thier money from simple supply and demand. They figure out what the consumer wants and they provide these things to make a profit. Isn’t that what a free economic system entails. If democrats win the election they will raise taxes on these big money making corperations that provide the everyday american people with jobs, and with these jobs that they create it lets the working class(middle class) the ability to go out and stimulate the economy. If democrats ta these corporations they will make cuts in budjects which means cuts in jobs which means the unemployment rate will go up. Then the democrats will turn around and blame the republicans for the mess that they got themselves into. So yea that is pretty much how a free market socity works. It doesn’t work by punishing those people who make new inovations which in turn creates a profit for them, and it doesn’t work by rewarding those people that do not contribute to society and just recieve tax payers money everymonth(wellfare). Pretty much every black person you know is going to vote for barack obama because he is black. They will try to defend themselves but they will come up with some other reason they are really voting for him which is a complete lie. Black people aren’t voting on his politics because only an uneducated person would vote for him on his politics, oh wait blacks don’t vote on politics they vote on wheter or not he is black or not sorry for the confusion. All blacks want to see is the first black president in the history books no matter the cost to the country and the threat of national security they cause in the process. We are already on a slippery slope thanks to Bush and the Democratic Congress/Senate. All three of those entities are responsible for our economic woes. Obama is just going to make it worse because he is going to enact plans for taxes and social welfare programs. VERY FEW people in our nation qualify for welfare. It is a system that is abused by young woman who make waaaayyy too many babies and only work 17 hours per week, so they “don’t lose their benefits”. They know how to play the game and do it quite well. Now Obama is going to offer them more while the rest of the country falls below the poverty line. He will kill our economy and the morons who are voting for him are only doing so because he is a Democrat.
Voting for Obama could be the most costly mistake the world has ever seen. I fear for my family and I fear for my children. What will they have left? Like I said, this man is the Anti-Christ and this is all a part of the plan for our destruction. I was just hoping that it would not come this quickly.

Svenja…..I do not support pulling our troops out of Iraq right now. While I did not favor sending them there in the first place, it is important to finish what we started. The ONLY one who wants to do that or even understands the military is John McCain. Obama has never even served in the military and he is set to be our Commander and Chief? That is a complete and total joke.
As for the energy independence issue. I live right by a nuclear reactor now. I have lived within 120 miles of the reactor almost my entire life. It is safe and is producing energy. I also live on the coast of a state where we have offshore oil drilling and it too is safe. We need to stop our dependence on oil from the Middle East, so they release their stranglehold on our economy.
Our economy went sour because the cost of oil skyrocketed and that had a domino syndrome on the rest of the Nation. Had we been able to have our own source of oil independence, our economy would not be in the fix it is in. But oil/gas prices skyrocketed and all those people who were paycheck to paycheck people could no longer pay their mortgages because they were spending too much on gasoline and the increased costs of food and such (due to the oil prices being so high). Now the mortgage industry is taking the hit for the entire fiasco, when in fact, it started with our dependence on oil from the Middle East and those disgusting human beings raised the cost of a barrel of oil, just to screw us over.
I hate the Middle East for what they did to our country. But I dislike our politicians even more because they refuse to allow drilling when we desperately need it. Additionally, I cannot and will not support a President who believe in the genocide of unborn babies. I want a Christian President, not some Muslim who is trying to convince people that he is a Christian. Any Christian who supports this man should not call himself/herself a Christian any longer.
Most importantly I fear a man who is willing to destroy the small businesses of our country, just to make a political point. That is what Obama has planned. and that will be the final nail in our economic coffin. He will also be putting in place more social welfare programs that benefit only the smallest portion of our nation. He will be totally ignoring the middle class who is struggling so hard to keep our heads above water.

Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning: ‘There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost.’ What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she’s first lady that will elevate black over white in America ?

wow who ever said raising tax on the rich is smart……It is one of the stupidest things you can do….that is jus going to piss them off and then raise prices on everything they sell…..for instance gas….to make up for there loses in gas…..and it really is going to hurt all the smaller buisness owners that make 250,000 a year. With this passed no one will want to do anything or suceed in doing anything because the are getting money from the rich which is just going to go right back to rich because your going to have to use your money on gas, food, electricity, and other resources that big companies own. Im sorry but Obama cant make a decision to save his life not once did he vote yes or no in senate. He voted preasent in the bailout. He is just some scam artist trying to get in the white house and do something we dont want to know. All the people beliveing in him are all brain washed. I like him in the begining up untill a few months ago untill a little slip ups here and there and come on his best friend an ex-Terriost who planed blowing up the white house. hmmmmm. At the very least, please stop being so afraid…I was positively TERRIFIED when Bush got elected both times, and we’re both still here to see another day.

I hope Obama wins. MCcain is no different than Bush. Charge double tripple tax to middle class and NO tax to rich people and big corporates. Plus he is bribing everyone by giving $5000. But he did mention on his website that he is going to tax us on it. That tax money will go straight to insurance companies. My mom is a brain patient and there is no way we can buy her insurance in $5000.
If Obama get selected atleast there will be no tax raise for middle class. I think Mccain is no different than our great president Bush.
Oh yes Mccain can help USA get bankrupt, Take away health insurance from millions of Americans. Increase Middle class tax everyday and give tax break to rich people.

For everyones information, Obama is not raising taxes for everyone except 5% of the USA population. The taxes will be raised only for the top 5% of people who make the most income. The REST of the people will get a tax CUT. Therefore, it is quite obvious that Obama should win and own this election.

Although I respect the fact that you all like Obama. And, as I said before, he has this election in the bag…..he has for a long time, (half of you would not even need to show up and he would still win). I am sickened and saddened by that prospect of him leading our country.
Having said that, it does not make me any less scared. I TRULY believe from the bottom of my heart that this man is a terrorist. For many reasons (not just the Ayers deal), such as his close association with his cousin Odinga, who is an admitted terrorist.
I cannot believe he is levying taxes on small business owners. Those increased taxes will make the business owners have to lay people off and increase prices. Both of those things kill the middle income people. Additionally, he wants to mandate that business owners provide medical insurance. Who will pay for that? Once again the middle class will pay for it in lost jobs and increased prices because the business owner can no longer make ends meet. Obama’s plan will DESTROY the middle class. Yea, he is not taxing us, but he is taxing the crap out of the person who writes our paychecks. That will ultimately change our lives forever.
I do not care if our President is white, black, red, yellow, green or pink. That has never mattered to me. What matters to me is that many Americans state that they are voting for him BECAUSE he says he is black. They need to look at his complete lack of experience and the fact that he has been a Senator for one of the most corrupt state governments in our nation. Everyone knows our politics in Illinois are corrupt. I live here and we are all aware of it.
However, what matters to me the most is that he is lying about his heritage. Why is he doing that? What is the purpose? What does he have to hide? It makes me not trust him. He is 50% caucasian, 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African negro. So, why isn’t he calling himself white? I don’t understand that. He should be proud of his heritage, not hiding it. I am Native American, Norwegian, and Irish. I am proud of that. I don’t ever hide my heritage, why does he?
Evelyn, I would welcome the chance to say you are right after a year transpires. I am hoping that is true. I know Obama is going to be our President, in spite of the fact that he is not qualified to do so. You are very lucky that you do not feel threatened by that possibility.
It is a hard pill to swallow, believing that a terrorist will run the US. I am sad that the White House has become the place where he is going to obtain his secondary education. I would like to have had a president in office who had at least a small amount of experience, Democrat, Republican, Independent….just a shred of experience would have helped.

Alex Bush did not charge any tax to big corporates and gave them tax breaks. They still increase the prices of common goods. We are paying $4.00 a gallon in gas. Everyday living is getting expensive for middle class.
Do you want to Vote Mccain and have him give Big corporates more tax break so they can charge us $5.00 a gallon of gas for next 4 years.

I hate seeing where this election is going. Black people WILL vote for Obama because they need “color” in the White House. I am a veteran and now a military spouse. Obama doesn’t truly understand our struggles pcsing, deployments, pay etc. McCaub does because he has been in my shoes and my husbands shoes. That’s not the ONLY reason I am voting for him but that’s neither here nor there. I was sitting in the doctors waiting room one day when on the tv said “McCain has chosen his running mate.” A guy walks up and said “Whatever, a woman? That’s ridiculous, I’m voting for Obama.” I politely asked him “why?” His ignorant answer was “because he’s black and that’s why my family is voting for him too.” It almost doesn’t get anymore ignorant than that. The sad part is I’ve heard that excuse from complete strangers about 7 times…..ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I agree neither candidate is exactly what America needs, but it is clear Obama has a better understanding. Obama seems to have the majority vote, but is is still crucial for Americans to go out and vote. We need a change, and McCain is the wrong candidate to choose for this. Obama is not a terrorist, and anyone who says that is ignorant.

Yes, it may be true that Obama is winning votes because he is black, but thats not the only reason. I am black and I have researched both sides of the party. I support Obama to the fullest because of his credentials. Blacks have had it the hardest in this country, but we still prevailed! No offense to anyone, but I don’t think people understand how STRONG AFrican Americans are. Until you can handle the things we have been through you will never understand. If you know your history then you would know that if you were half black you will be treated as a black person, and that didn’t stop us from moving to the top! I have to say that from what I have read not many of you have been well educated in the ways of true politics and economics.
It does not matter which one of our great leaders is elected. We are all going to pay the price. I have not yet heard either of these two state how they are going to pay off the 10.2 trillion dollar debt, or the other 40 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities.
Do you really believe that Obama is your man? Do you think he will change things by taxing the rich? When you tax the rich THEY SIMPLY RAISE PRICES ON THE REST OF US. So we pay for it. Do you think they will earn less money because we tax them more. A billionaire will always be a billionaire even if you raise his or her taxes to 75%. They will just pass along the burden, or find a way to sidestep the taxes.
Get a clue as to how the world works and then you can speak out and tell everyone how great Obama is going to be. Our taxes are the heaviest in the entire world, and we have most of the world’s debt right here too.
Our gross domestic product is no longer made of manufacturing of goods and creation of “things.” We are a nation of NO SAVINGS and out of control spending. Our GDP is over 70% consumer spending on bullshit we do not need. And we will find ourselves in another soup line great depression because of it. That is a fact, and it is heading to your town sooner than you think.
You should vote for the first politician that promises to abolish the IRS and to cut government spending and employment by 50%. We need a politician to begin purchasing GOLD as our reserves so the dollar remains the world’s currency. We need a president that does not promise to tax the rich and give to the poor. A resident should not try to be Robin Hood. If you live here you should pay taxes, even if you make $10,000 a year. Everyone should pitch in something for roads, education, and military, right?
We need a president that can TURN A PROFIT for the government of the people, not a deficit for our children. And the profit should be a trillion dollars, not a few billion. If we want to claim we are the richest country in the world we have to actually have money (GOLD) in our pockets.
And let me make this clear. I am sick of Republicans. I WAS ONE AT ONE TIME. I am also sick of Democrats. It is all too many promises, and I guarantee you that if Obama wins you will all be pissed. He will not do what he says he is going to do, and this country will continue to move towards Great Depression 2.0.
And to the moron who stated Obama is a terrorist… well you are just a moron. He is the usual politician. Promise a ton and deliver a lot of bad excuses. But he is no terrorist. He is a talented B.S. artist and used who he did to get to where he is. If the fools who helped him along are connected homeland terrorists, and muslims abroad, they will also find out he is just a politician!
And for all you who think Obama is a Saint, you are the ones that will be in the soup line I am paying for when you have no job, no money, and no place to live. mccain and palin. the democratic view on politics is only “feel good”. all the ideas are great to them that are coming out of obama’s mouth, but if you guys watched the debates for a change you’d hear that his programs and ideas will not be able to come in full circle for 10 years…maybe i should also fill some of you in that a president can only be in office for 2 terms, which is 8 years…NOT long enough for his ideas to settle. all he wants is to get in and “change” us. bullshit. all his plans and ideas need money to support them, so cutting back on taxes will not happen my friends and that raising of the minimum wage will put more people in the hole and send our unemployment rate through the roof.

Do you know that Philip J. Berg, a prominent DEMOCRAT, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Barack Obama on grounds that he is constitutionally ineligible to be President of the United States due to citizenship issues.
How can Barack Obama even run when he is not a US Citizen? I don’t get it. There are currently two lawsuits filed against Obama in Federal Court to prove he is a citizen. I would be interesting to see Obama pony up and prove this Democrat wrong, however, I don’t think he can (which is why he is keeping quiet about this).
Obama has yet to prove his U.S. citizenship. He produced one birth certificate from the state of Hawaii that has since been verified as a forgery by three independent document forensic experts. Why is he doing something that stupid? Does he think people will not reveal the truth about him?
In the main lawsuit, Berg states that Sen. Obama was born in Kenya, and not in Hawaii as the senator maintains. Before giving birth, according to the lawsuit, Obama’s mother traveled to Kenya with his father but was prevented from flying back to Hawaii because of the late stage of her pregnancy, “apparently a normal restriction to avoid births during a flight.” As Sen. Obama’s own paternal grandmother, half-brother and half-sister have also claimed, Berg maintains that Stanley Ann Dunham–Obama’s mother–gave birth to Barack in Kenya and subsequently flew to Hawaii to register the birth.
Berg cites inconsistent accounts of Sen. Obama’s birth, including reports that he was born at two separate hospitals–Kapiolani Hospital and Queens Hospital–in Honolulu, as well a profound lack of birthing records for Stanley Ann Dunham, though simple “registry of birth” records for Barack Obama are available in a Hawaiian public records office.
Should Sen. Obama truly have been born in Kenya, Berg writes, the laws on the books at the time of his birth hold that U.S. citizenship may only pass to a child born overseas to a U.S. citizen parent and non-citizen parent if the former was at least 19 years of age. Sen. Obama’s mother was only 18 at the time. Therefore, because U.S. citizenship could not legally be passed on to him, Obama could not be registered as a “natural born” citizen and would therefore be ineligible to seek the presidency pursuant to Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution.

BTW, it is not up to the accused to prove his innocence but up to the accuser to prove guilt – that is the basis on which the American Legal Sytem is FOUNDED. Reading these posts is very discouraging to me as an American citizen. I can’t believe people are so oblivious to what’s going on. It’s almost embarrassing to me.
We are given the right to vote for our leaders. It is a privilege that not every country has; and yet the US still fails to do their own research on Presidential candidates and form their own beliefs. They just make overly-opinionated decisions based on what they hear on biased news channels and such.
Most people have no real idea who and what they’re voting for!
Let’s just hope that not every voting citizen in the United States of America is like most of the people who’ve posted here.
Let’s also hope that Barack Obama doesn’t win.

I am personally going for John McCain onl because he has more experience in the senate over Barrack Obama and will not have to learn on the job if in the presidential seat. Obama lacks experience in foreign policy, health care issues, and public education. By watching the debates you will see that Obama is probably one of the biggest hippocrate you will ever hear. people say that Obama won the debates…….well he might have won them but what are we really voting for???? Additionally, that birth certificate that you pointed out, is in fact the VERIFIED fake copy of his birth certificate. It was verified as a fake by three different independent resources.
As for Barack Obama being born in the US??? So that means his paternal Grandmother, half-brother, and half-sister, are all lying (on camera) about being present as Barack’s birth in Kenya? There are now two more lawsuits in Federal Court against Barack Obama, asking him to prove his citizenship. If he can prove it, then let the man step forward and do so. By the way, an announcement in the newspaper does not prove a legal birth at all. It only lets people know that he is alive and kicking. Anyone can take an announcement out in any newspaper.
I just do not understand why all the lies are necessary. Why can’t this man stand up and tell the truth?? This is EXACTLY what makes me not trust him. He is hiding/avoiding facts about his life and that is really scary.
But I will state the most important factor about why I could never, ever vote for him. Obama endorces the GENOCIDE of unborn babies. Doesn’t that matter to you? That means you are supporting a woman’s “right” to murder another human being? Abortion is repulsive and it is murder, plain and simple. If someone had an abortion before they knew what the consequences were, (before they knew the scientific evidence showed CONCLUSIVELY that it is a baby being murdered), then they can ask for forgiveness and receive it. However, to support this genocide after knowing what it really is will be their one-way ticket to hell. Mostly, I agree, which is why it is important that we don’t continue the trend of allowing and ignoring tax breaks and loopholes for these companies/individuals. No need to make us pay more for the sake of keeping the wealthy fat, right? If anything, what is the good of taxing people out the eyes who live month to month, like you and me? How much money can be squeezed out of us anyway? Is that effective for our failing economy? And what would truly be the destructive consequence of easing the financial pressures of the poor-to-middle class in this nation. Would that not bolster the economy?
There is enough money. Or at least there could be enough money/resources/food for everyone if we listened to our mom when she said, “share with your sister.” But we are not reflecting that. Shouldn’t everyone be offered the chance to live without fear of poverty in this country? Seems like a human right worth fighting for. This is not idealism, this is our reality if we wish to be a leader of the world.
I don’t think that the rich of the world should have to give away their life’s earnings or their “legacy” if you want to call it that, but I don’t think these CEOs’ golf trips will really suffer from the change that Obama could bring by installing a few tax alterations.
I also have difficulty seeing that it comes down to choice or a lack of effort that keep the poor eating in soup kitchens or living without hot water or electricity. I am NOT saying that some people JUST have shitty luck (oh well), but I find it hard to deny that many in our United States live with significant challenges, be they fiscal, social, mental, educational… We can’t assume that the reason the poor of our country are in a pile of shit is because they just like the smell of it. What about homeless children, who can not be, in any way, responsible for their situation? How does this make us look as a nation when our strong leave our weak in the cold?
In the end, I think it comes down to helping a brother in need. Would a rich man not help his struggling teenage daughter get back on the right track? It would be good for the family, right? Would you not help a friend who has fallen on hard times?
We are all family, all one. If we want to say, proudly, “United We Stand,” then we should follow that code, and start by actually uniting ourselves with each other. This means (God forbid) being compassionate, sharing, treating each other as our own. These are virtues that the government can not employ by law, but can certainly nurture through raising awareness and through a tax system that reflects our nation’s class-related financial breakdown.

“What Club” I think you spend to much time at the club. Because last I checked “that club” your talking about has been raising prices on there services and and there interest for years with no concern for hourly wages… as far as commision you want to see people crash and burn over the next 4 years… as far as salery you want to get more ours “for free” because they say it’s harder for a person to get a job… So what if your club plan back fired on it’s self, maybe it’s only fare that people that have been struggling for years, not resently like “the club”. The real estate market more then double over 10 years but min. wage goes up like two dollars in that time. So let me get this straight… I young person gets forty hours a week that’s 40x($2)=$80 that means $80 x 4 weeks=$320 a month (-taxes average 20%) = $256 so now I’ve really got… $250 more a month over ten years… But a house that cost $100,000 in 1998 coated $200,000 untill the market crashed. So the morgage went from $600 a month to $1200 a month. So I get $250 dollors a month more on minim wages but my mogage goes up $600. Why didn’t you just tell us steight that keeping shelter over ones head over ones head was going to get harder to afford then 1996 and there’s a club that you have to join. I hope to have a business someday and hope not to have to cut my own throut like “the club”. It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t take a perfectly good American dream and taint it with greed. “dreams are for people who sleep” what we need is change now not after the worse happens. Do the math Mccain = Bush. As far as dreams of McCain go make to sleep we got this.

This crisis has been brewing since Jimmy Carter was in office. In 1977: President. Jimmy Carter signed into Law, the Community Reinvestment Act. Remember that? The foundation of which is the cornerstone for our economic disaster.. That law pressured financial institutions to extend home loans to those who would otherwise not qualify. The publicized premise of the Law?: Home ownership would improve poor and crime-ridden communities and neighborhoods in terms of crime, investment, jobs, etc. It did not work.
Additionally, in 1993, Bill Clinton extensively rewrote Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s rules turning the quasi-private mortgage-funding firms into semi-nationalized monopolies dispensing cash and loans to large Democratic voting blocks and handing favors, jobs and contributions to political allies. This potent mix led inevitably to corruption and now the collapse of Freddie and Fannie. Despite warnings, Clinton unveiled his National Home-Ownership Strategy, which broadened the Community Reinvestment Act in ways congress never intended. That started the erosion of our economy and bank failures.
So, when you look to throw blame at George W. Bush for this crisis, take the time to do your research first. This economic disaster is the responsibility of the Democrats, not the Republicans. The House and Senate have kept Bush’s hands so tightly tied because they wanted and kept control over everything. They hold responsibility for this disaster more than anyone else.
Now all of you lemmings are poised and salivating about voting for your new “hero”. What a joke! Have you not been paying attention? As a new Christian, it is really hard for me to wrap my mind around all the hate being spread by Christians. Can someone please explain to me why the Rublicans are considered the only right choice for Christians? I hear all the talk about God, but the actions I see are FAR from what people who really love God and follow His Word should do. I have never heard McCain confess Christ or mention what church he worships at. If he was really living for the Lord, would’nt he say so?
McCain has been carrying on about “honesty” and “integrity”, but didn’t leave his wife to take up with his now wife Cindy? Where was his honesty and integrity then? He did not honor his vows taken with his first wife and before God that indicates “In sickness and in health, till death do us part” . How can he judge Obama about not keeping his word or anything else for that matter?
It also bothers me that for his own gain, he allowed people at his rally to yell out things like “kill him”, “Off with his head”, “terrorist” and all other kinds of hateful things and never once addressed it. Again, I ask, how is this behavior Christ like?
He also does not believe in helping the poor, or else this “spreading the wealth” thing would not be a big deal. As I understand it one of Christ’s charges to us was to help the poor and the sick.
I am learning that Christ died for us all, regardless of race and Christianity is more that what you say, it’s what you DO! Just because he says that he is pro-life does NOT mean that he is a Christian.
McCain sounds and acts like a mean and hateful person to me. It’s a shame that in the sunset of his life, he has dishorned his fine reputation.
Again, please someone please explain to me why we as Christians should be voting for McCain?

Does anyone really know who barrack obama is? Media people who have been traveling with him do not know him. Does anyone know where he is getting his money. Obamas campaign is not tracking it and it is coming in by the millions. Does anyone realize how much money the afl-cio is putting in his campaign is over 1/2 a billion. Does anyone realize how much strain adding 47 million people to our health care system will be and the government will be operating it. And where is obama going to get the money from? The tax payers and not just the top 5% but everyone who is working. Have all the obama fans read his books? He is a socialist through and through which of course is another name for communist. And obama appoints a few liberal judges to the supreme court and they begin to set law instead of upholding the constistution which this country is based on.

lets take a realistic look at McCain’s plans for a few of the important issues facing the American people:

Education – McCain is pushing Bush’s “school choice” plan which is a plan to take funds from the public schools and give it to private schools. They claim that this competition will improve the education system, and in theory this sounds reasonable, however, the devil is in the details. What will actually happen is that the top 10% of income earners, who kids probably already attend private schools, will now get the government to pay their private school bills. The other 90% of us will either be stuck sending our kids to the now under-funded public schools, or to a low performing private school across town because all the high performing private schools will be full, or will just not accept your application. If McCain is elected and gets this legislation passed you can expect to pay higher property taxes to support weaker public schools.

Health Care – McCain’s plan includes increasing competition, government tax credits, and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). None of these ideas address the real problems and issues with our current health care system, which include rising cost, insuring people with preexisting condition, insurance policy loop-holes, and FDA mistakes. The HSA’s are just another way for people who have excess income, the top 10%, to avoid paying taxes on that income. How does McCain plan on paying for these huge tax credits, or is it all just added to the debt? He didn’t say. To cut cost he wants to pass tort reforms that limit people’s ability to sue doctors, hospitals, drugs companies, and insurance companies for mistakes that might cost you your life.

Economy – McCain wants to continue Bush’s economic policies of free-trade, tax cuts for the people and corporations already at the top of the economic ladder, cuts in social programs that help the unemployed, tort reforms that shield corporations from accountability, and rolling back environmental protections and other government regulations. If you like the Bush economy McCain is your man.

Taxes – McCain wants to make big cuts in the top corporate tax rates. He wants to repeal the estate tax for the benefit of the kids of billionaires, including his kids. He wants to make Bush’s tax cuts permanent. He wants to get rid of the AMT. All these plans will make the rich richer, squeeze the middle class downwards, and will force deep cuts in government programs like Medicare and Social Security, or will cause the federal debt to skyrocket. McCain’s tax plans will make an already regressive to code even more regressive.

Environment – McCain is more concerned about oil company profits and economic growth than he is about the environment. Like Bush he supports voluntary compliance rather than government regulations. He is proposing a “Cap-on-Trade” program that amounts to a huge new corporate welfare program for companies that cut emissions of greenhouse gases. What if they cut emissions by moving their operations off-shore, do they still get the cash?

Social Security – McCain’s speech and website are silent about any ideas, or solutions, to fix the Social Security system, however, when he has been ask about it he hints at private savings accounts as the answer. I suspect he wants to invest Social Security revenues into the stock market, which is a bad idea on many different levels, including higher cost and much higher risk.

Federal Deficits & Debt – McCain promises to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term by cutting wasteful government programs and overhauling programs like Social Security and Medicare, however, his numbers don’t add up. Four years ago Bush was promising to cut the deficits in half in five years and yet this year’s deficits is projected to be an all-time record high. Republican administrations (Reagan, Bush 1, and Bush 2) are responsible for adding $9 trillion dollars to the current $10+ trillion dollar debt. Their track record is clear and they cannot be trusted to manage the fiscal health of the federal government. In fact, it appears they are deliberately bankrupting the federal government so that their fat-cat friends can buy up the government vast real estate assets for pennies on the dollar. Those are our assets they are planning on stealing and what they are doing is treason.
And there are other issues that McCain is promising to address, but if we use history as a measure of the strength of the GOP’s promises we should expect very little, and in fact, we should prepare to have what little we do have taken away and given to a few families already at the top of the economic ladder. The trend is clear so don’t be fooled by a new face and fancy promises.

Lets get the facts straight Ashley. I agree 100% with you that there is absolutely no room for racism anywhere on this earth. That is one of the many reasons I cannot endorse Barack Obama. Yes, the woman is a trashy, disrespectful, unpatriotic, arrogant, separatist. Her college dissertation was written to promote separation and dominance by the African-American community. She has publicly stated that she would favor African-Americans over anyone else. She is foul and disgusting. Her ideas are set to destroy 40 years of work toward calming racial tensions. As a person of “color”, I have put up with too much crap my entire life, to allow her to set us back 50 years.
As for the Christian aspect. There is no way this man is a Christian. He spent his life as a Muslim and only converted to Christianity when his wife encouraged him to. Because of his lack of Christian values, he has no problem endorsing the genocide of babies. He supports abortion and that is murder, plain and simple. Education: I am 100% in favor of vouchers. I want the opportunity to send my child to a private school. That is something I cannot afford and would love to see happen.
Health Care: I would love to have a medical credit. I do not want to ever be on an HMO again. I have watched too many people die because they had to wait to “get approval” for their treatment. Under Barack Obama, we will have socialized medicine and everyone will be on an HMO. HMO’s are inefficient and bureaucratic. That is all we need…..another government run agency to drain us dry financially.
Economy: Again, I support free-trade whole-heartedly. I also want to see tax cuts to corporations, so they have the opportunity to employ more people, provide more health care, and pass the savings on to us. That is simple math. As for Social Service programs….get rid of them. Too many people rely on them as a way to make a living. Why dpn’t we mandate that all welfare recipients put in a 40 hour week working in the fields picking strawberries. That would solve that problem and get the illegals to go back home. I have a cousin who refuses to work over 17 hours per week because she does not want to lose her welfare benefits and subsidized housing. By the way, she is a democrat.
Taxes: We need to make certain that the estate taxes are repealed. How cruel is that tax anyway? The diseased person has ALREADY paid taxes on their property and now in death, their family is forced to give over the last of what they have to live on??? It wrong. That does not benefit the kids of billionaires. It would benefit my sister whose husband died at 35 years old and she had to give part of his estate away and is left with virtually nothing to raise her two little kids.

In a perfect world there should not be abortion, but this is far from a perfect world…so I just want to know how many anti-abortion advocates have adopted a child who was given up for adoption because their mother did not want them…just because you make a woman give a child life does not mean the child will have any kind of a life…I really would like to know what the plan is if abortion is made illegal. I am more worried about the babies who are born and beaten, stabbed, burned, molested, and thrown out in the streets, I am worried about the real pain they are feeling, more than a 5-week fetus. And, again, I wish there was no such thing as abortion, but I do not see any alternative, besides the obvious do not get pregnant. What is your plan??

I worked at a non-profit residential home for abused and neglected teenage boys. I have my Masters in Social Work. I am Pro-Life and I do care about the children who are troubled on the streets and in the homes across America. Abortion is not the answer. We have wonderful non-profit organizations nation wide that do step out and help. I have known and continue to meet many many caring individuals out there who do want to adopt children.
I guess I feel a little bit offended (although I really try to be understanding and not take it personally) at the stereo type that if you are voting for McCain and are Pro-Life you are not caring or benevolant. I think really truly across the board you can find caring people on both sides (dems & GOP) and people who are not caring, only selfish and greedy on both sides…
Regarding who I vote for, I think it comes down to principals for me. I believe in a smaller government and I believe in sanctity of life, I believe in providing opportunities and empowerment as opposed to, in my view providing more handouts. Let us improve the programs we have.
We need to help people. That is absolutely a priority. Service is so important.
However, let us not add more big government programs. When has government ever solved anything for people? Let the people come up with ways to solve and face the challenges of the future.
I voted for McCain and I am not wealthy (just barely middle class). I don’t know who will win. I know either way I will be fine, as I will continue to be the best person I can regardless of who is in office. The person in office cannot save me or my family.
However, on a side note, I think everyone will lose more consitutional freedoms if Obama is in office.

Did you see bigger government under Bill Clinton? He gave you back an economy with a SURPLUS after his 8 years were done. A healthy economy, and a chance for the future. A more liberal approach is NOT socialism or communism. Look at countries like Canada, France, Great Britain, all of the Scandinavian countries. They have a more liberal policy, take care of their people better. They are not communist – nowhere near it.

Her is what I have a problem with: I work hard; I live in the midwest, make over $150,000 and pay more in taxes every year than a lot of people make. If Obama gets in where is my incentive to work? I should just sit back and collect the welfare check that everyone else is going to get and there will be no consequences because the government is going to pay for everything! I help small businesses create jobs…….what if I chose not to work now? I don’t see how the Obama supporters don’t see how this thinking is just going to make the economy worse. If I’m not working; I’m not buying; if I’m not buying ; small business is not selling….and so on and so on.
Between my husband and myself we pay in more than $13,000 a year into the social security system; if that were in my 401k I’d be a lot better off; why should I have to pay for the people that don’t work?

There is some views of both people that i like, i will admit i dont care for Mccain at all. Tho some aspects of his speech seem to be what i think this world would need. augustina: that link you posted about Obama’s “birth certificate” is exactly what I am talking about. That is a Certificate of Live Birth, NOT a birth certificate. To clear this up….a Certificate of Live Birth is not a legal document. It is a paper that can be generated by anyone saying that have had a child that was born ALIVE. The information for that paper can be provided by the parent.
On the otherhand, a Birth Certificate is the LEGAL document that is issue by the state in which you are born. Barack Obama was born in Kenya. If he were born in Hawaii, he would not have a single problem producing a birth certificate. The reason he cannot produce anything more than the Certificate of Live birth, is that he was not born in Hawaii. Why would he not produce his birth certificate??? Because it simply does not exist. Why did the Governor of Hawaii just seal Obama’s birth records this week?? Because he is covering up for Obama.
Additionally, Obama went to school in Indonesia and Pakistan. In order to go to school there, you have to be a citizen of Indonesia. When Barack was in school there, Indonesia did not allow for dual citizenship. So, Barack (or Barry Soetolo, as he was known then), was not a US Citizen from birth.
He could not be a naturalized citizen either. In order to be a naturalized citizen, the parent has to have lived in the United States for 14 years, with at least 5 of those years AFTER the age of 14. Baracks mother gave birth to him at 18 years old. Do the math. That alone would prevent him from becoming a Naturalized citizen.
So, bottom line is that Barack cannot be a citizen because he was born in Kenya (listen to taped interviews with his paternal grandmother who says she was present at his Kenya birth). Additionally, he cannot be a naturalized citizen because of his mother’s age at his birth. So, that makes him one thing……an illegal alien. As crazy as that is, we are now voting into office a man who is willing to reject our entire Constitution and it’s laws, just because he wants to sit in the oval office.
I cannot wait until someone who cares goes into the birth records in Hawaii to show what a dishonest man Obama really is. Shame on him for putting himself in front of our Nation’s needs, shame on him.

I won’t say my blood hasn’t boiled plenty of times reading the posts made here – I think what dismays me the most is the ignorance of many – and I don’t mean the kind that comes from a lack of schooling, cause some of the finest, brightest, most intelligent people I know haven’t had that much of it. I truly want my kids to wake up to a better tomorrow. McCain is too old to offer any kind of stability and Palin is just too plain stupid. If nothing else, Obama has surrounded himself with very capable people, and he seems to be a listener. That is reassuring.
Also, with regard to his birth certificate, Christine, I think you should just let it drop. If there were ANY possibility that he wasn’t born in the US, do you honestly think that FOX, or other right-wing networks, or newspapers wouldn’t have been able to get a hold of that kind of info? Seriously? He’s as American as you are – this whole birth certificate thing has just been another way to blind people from seeing what a brilliant man he is and what potential he has to unite this nation. A government has NO place in telling a woman what she can and cannot do with her own body. The fetus is still a part of HER body. Yet McCain’s strong military background and foreign policy experience shirley give him a boost. Obamas plan to lower taxes for the HUGE MAJORITY of citizens who make lower then 200,000 dollars per year is three times as much as McCains. As for the abortion issue. There is no such thing as choice. The only equitable solution is to ban abortion in every form. You haters casually call a child a “fetus”, because it eases your mind and makes you feel guilt-free. Well, get a clue, a fetus is a living child with a heartbeat, arms, legs, eyes, and ears. Since when is that not a baby? How can you allow a child to be murdered like that? How can you? Even science says the “fetus” is a baby from the point of conception. I’m more concerned now after reading these blogs. Leave the oil in their back yard alone and drill in our back yard. Dont want to drill, then buy electric. We have power when we act as responsible citizens. We need a federal governement to inact certain safeguards and rules over corporations who will take advantage of us, her own people, GM did not give a rip when they bought off the electric cars in the 80’s. GM took the money the oil company gave them and bought themselves more homes and helicopoters to take them shopping with.

I am a true republican and I believe Obama’s lack of experience and liberal views will bring this country to a worse spot then we are already in. My other point is this, Obama appears to be ahead in the polls. There is this affect that happens when minorities run for public office. Many people in the polls say yeah that they’ll vote for a black president, but once actually in the voting booth will not vote for a black president. This is called the bradley affect. Again I am not racist but this happened in a california governor race where bradley was ahead in the polls by nearly 8 points and ended up losing the election. Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched obama fans. This election is far from over.

Personally, I think Obama will win. Because of that, I think we should consider hiding what money we have, and be prepared to get our body bar codes to be counted and identified once we convert to a socialist government.

I look at the facts. and the fact that Obama can speak well does not add up to being ready to be president.
it blows my mind that all you people can over look the fact that over half his campaign money came from foreign sources…hello america…..they have alwasy said they would take over from the inside.

I really didn’t want to get into the abortion issue but I guess it couldnt be helped. Yes I agree killing a fetus is wrong. Killing a life with legs and arms and a heart and brain. Thats WRONG. But up until the second and third month it is NOT A FETUS. It is simply dividing cells. There is no legs no arms no lungs no nothing. Just a mass of diving cells and replicating cells. If a woman is raped i believe that law right now is perfect up untill a small window a woman has a choice. But It should only be used in dire circumstances. Palins daughter CHOOSE to have unprotected sex. So she has to deal with the consequences and raise the life that she created willingly. The only thing that angered me about the situation was the forced marriage. Marriage is defiantly a sacred institution between two people who love each other. But not two unwilling teenagers. There is a reason the church allows divorce. Its the childs wellfare that should be taken into consideration weather her/his biological parents are together or not.
Why do you still insist on his denial of his heritage? He has NEVER denied his white or black heritage. He has always shown pictures of his white mother and grandmother (who just passes away god rest her soul) If the american people cant put two and two together thats their own ignorant fault. Plus HE IS NOT the one propigating only his Black Herritage. Turn to ANY right wing television or radio station. They will all call him african american or black. Should they play the race card this race card that. If calling himself black is only helping him why wouldn’t the right wing station point out what you are? BECAUSE WERE A COUNTRY FILLED WITH RACISTS. They call him black because conservatives are more afraid of a black president. If they called him half white all the time older white voters would be more inclined to vote for him.
Take this for example if Obama did go on stage and Outspokenly EMBRACE his white heritage. What would we be arguing about right now? You would NO DOUBT be saying hes is using his white herritage get pity votes from white voters. So either way in your eyes hes being disonest and sneaky. Its BULLL. People will do anything in their power to throw dirt on his name. Quite literally. Even calling his middle name hussein. DOES THAT MATTER? IS HE FREAKING SADAM HUSSEIN? NO hes dead and Obama has no affiliation with his family or anything. Its just another blatant racist comment that has no place in a political discussion on a persons ideas and integrity.
If John McCains name was John Osama but he was exactly the same person with a different background would you still vote for him? Probrably not because a name is everything right? You try to his your racism deny it even. Most of Americans do this. You think your forgiving you think your accepting of all gods children like the bible says you should be but your NOT. There are thousands and thousands of good Iraqi american citizens out their. Plenty of Muslims and Arabs that are some of the best people I know. Far better then most even. If John McCain was a 100% Iraqi but born in the US would you vote for him? Even if he had all the same war stories and medals and ideas? I doubt you would. Vote for McCains stance on foreign policy, his military expeirence ect. JUST THE HELL UP ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE THAT DOESNT MATTER. Will Obama run this country well? His amazing years in the senate, drive and conviction seem to say so. His strong will and open mind seem to say so. Will McCain run this country well? His years in the senate and over experience seem to say so.
Get over yourself get over your fears. This one election is important but it wont make or break our country for years and years to come. I personally feel Obamas open mind, strong will and hope for change will win out in the end. If your so worried about him making mistakes thats what his vice president and cabinet are their for. Biden to help with foriegn pollicy (even though he showed an amazing nack for it when he met with MANY leaders of other countries.) And if that doesnt belay your fears theirs still the senate the house. Checks and balances.
Most other countries have spoken their opinion that Obama would definatly be a better choice too. McCain is too close and concerned with the Military. WE DONT NEED MORE WARS. We need PEACE with Iran and China and Russia and Korea. NOT war. We dont need a military leader weave had enough WAR for now. Enough sending out young men and women to Iraq to die for a war that never should have happened in the first place. Obama will pull us out. McCain will keep us there. Obama will show the world the peacefull side of America. Not the war hungry version McCains image would bring. Thats what America needs to do after this election and economic disaster. We need to save face. STOP MAKING MORE GLOBAL ENEMIES. Stop borrowing massive amounts of money from China to pay for a war we shouldnt be in. We need to SAVE FACE. And become the America we were years ago. Which i believe is what most conservatives want anyways.

Dan, very well written. Thank you for being so honorable and not making your comments personal. I may not agree with what you said, but you have given me a lot to think about and that is always good. Your comments help to move aside my fear of Obama being part of a terrorist cell that is working from the inside, out. I know, I know, I know, that is crazy, but in my heart of hearts, I believe that is a possibility.
I bring up Obama’s middle name, because that is his legal name. I don’t mean that it has anything to do with Saddam. It bothers me a great deal that the man changed his name from Barry Dunham Soetolo to Barack Hussein Obama. He chose to change his name to that of a known terrorist…..his father. That intimidates me.

Having said all that. I cannot vote for Obama. He is the most inexperience man we have ever had run for President. He even said he felt he did not have the experience and would not run this year. About the abortion issue…..from the point of conception, that “mass of cells” as you so indelicately call it, is a human being. To abort is to murder, plain and simple. The President of the student body at our local high school this year was the product of a rape in Montana. She was adopted by a family who could not have children and she is a remarkably beautiful young woman who intends to go into politics. Her goal when she gets into office??? She wants to overturn Roe vs Wade, so she protects all the other kids like her who are being murdered daily.

Christine, abortion is a VERY personal issue, and one I personally feel no one has the right to dictate about. If you feel abortion is murder, that is your right, and of course you are entitled to it and to practice it. But, do not try to deny me of my rights…my beliefs are not yours. I believe there are cases where abortion can be justified and, even though I would never have an abortion myself, I know that I cannot impinge my beliefs and values on others. They have to work out their own value system and live with themselves. I am not their keeper. Just my own.

It is halfway through the day and the polls will all be closing soon. I pray for peace for everyone. Tomorrow is going to be a very difficult day for many of us who had high hopes for the safety and security in our nation. We will need to band together in prayer and ask for the Lord to protect our new President.
At this point, I don’t care who is going to be elected. After posting on here for the last couple weeks, and especially today, I am unnerved by the hatred I see in people. I fear that it will not be a safe presidency for either one of them. There is too much passion, emotion, and insanity surrounding this election.
I guess I am trying to say that I believe we all need to be on high alert. Please listen to the rantings and disenchantment of your neighbors. Call the authorities if you hear anything crazy coming out of someone’s mouth. Be brave, do the right thing and report anything you don’t like to hear. Protect our president, no matter who it ends up being. Both these men have families and friends who love them and don’t want to lose them. Gosh, some of you posters are really crazy, insane today.
I also pray that Biden was not correct about Obama being tested by the terrorists within six months.
I don’t know anymore. Now that the reality of the election is here, I am pretty uncomfortable with how nuts it is making everyone. I hope it is just the passion and not truly craziness.

Dan…..that is not a Birth Certificate. I have said that a billion times. That is a Certificate of Live Birth and be obtained AFTER the birth of a child. It is not a legal document. I have both Certificates of Live Birth and Birth Certificates for my kids. The Certificate of Live Birth is sort of a token, “Oh yea, you just had a baby”. It cannot ever be used to replace a Birth Certificate.
